DAVIS, James L.

James L. Davis, age 89, of Hamilton, died Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1931, in Pineville, Kentucky, the son of John Lee and Edna (Hoskins) Davis. He received his

teaching certificate from Eastern Kentucky University in 1950 and taught in a one-room schoolhouse for two years. He married Geraldine Sizemore on December 22, 1951, in Pineville. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Jim then began his career with General Motors at the Fisher Body Plant in Fairfield as a Scheduling Expediter. He worked at Fisher Body for 35 years and was one of the last people out the door when the plant closed in 1989 and he retired. He attended the Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fairfield. Jim loved his family and was a hard worker. He was an avid golfer who scored three holes-in-one, but what he most enjoyed about golf was sporting with his buddies. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine, his son James L. Davis, Jr. (Beth), Oxford, granddaughter, Anna Davis and her partner Jon Carr of Atlanta, GA, step-grandchildren, Brennan (Kim) Graham, Bridget Coronel and her partner Jason Hurley, step-great grandchildren, Cayo, Charlie and Cole, sisters-in-law Mary Davis and Lillian Davis, and a large, extended family whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffery Alan Davis, his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, Milford, Clifford, Clarence, Lester, Nelly Jackson, Gwen Robbins, Georgia Mink and Vivian Wilson. A private service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd in Hamilton. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
