Harold J. "Hal"

Passed away June 2, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born in Amsterdam, NY, on

January 24, 1936, and was raised in Rome, NY, by Luigi and Margaret Carletta. He is survived by his four children: son Mark Miller (Shirleen); daughter Theresa Tallman (Jon); daughter Patricia Miller; son Michael Miller (Molly); stepson Robert Bolen (Mariana); and brother Frank Carletta

(Karen), as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Hal was preceded in death by his wife Ann; daughter Sharon Wetzel; brothers Tony and Daniel Carletta; sisters Mary Destito, Rose Magnanti, Angeline Patrick and Margaret Zimecki.

He retired from the Air Force, having served 28 years of active service at several stateside bases and in Japan, Italy and

Vietnam. Following his military career, he was employed as a Civilian Personnel Management Specialist at Headquarters Air Force Material Command for 13 years.

Hal was a past Commander of Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 of the American Legion as a life member and was also a life member of Arkenberg/VFW Post 6861 in Fairborn, OH. Until recently, he had been active in community affairs. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Post Everlasting service at 9:50 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery. Hal will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Condolences may be made to the family at
