SMITH, Pauline Dorothy

PAULINE DOROTHY SMITH, age 97, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born May 10, 1923, in Miami County near Troy, Ohio, the daughter of William R. and Dorothy M. (Nill) Schmidt. She graduated from Lena-Conover High School and Ideal Business School in Piqua, Ohio. She was married to Charles L. Smith for 74 years, until his passing in 2017.

Pauline worked as an Accountant at Grimes Manufacturing during World War II. She also worked for Robbins-Myers, Springfield News-Sun, and Springfield Gerhardt's Accounting. Pauline loved spending time golfing, bowling, and playing bridge. She participated in golf leagues at Snyder and Reid Courses, and also bowled at Northridge Lanes several times throughout the week. She was a member of the Springfield Bridge Club and the American Business Women's Association. Pauline was a faithful member of Story-Hypes United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Wanda Schmidt; niece, Kay (Larry) McMillen; nephew, Michael (Jackie) Schmidt and a close family friend, Joseph Cross. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard L. Smith, and brothers, Elsworth "Dick", Howard, and Paul Schmidt.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Ferncliff Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Services have been entrusted to LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.littletonandrue.com.
