South Park Tavern has rolled out a new menu item to coincide with March Madness.

March 12 saw the debut of breakfast pizzas and quiches at the South Park neighborhood pie spot at 1301 Wayne Ave., and so far the reception has been great, says General Manager Malcolm Deloch.

"I had been thinking about [breakfast pizzas] for a while, and we wanted to give it a whirl for a month during March Madness," he said. "It's something I thought we could do, and do well, and give our customers something new from the pizza we already serve."

Now on Saturdays and Sundays through March from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., patrons can choose from a Western-style or vegetarian quiche ($3 per square) or one of several new pizza varieties:

-Smoked Applewood Bacon, Egg, Cheese
-Spicy Smoked Sausage, Egg, Cheese
-Western-style Omelette Pizza, with Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Ham, Cheese
-Vegetarian

Patrons can also pick their own toppings, with pizzas priced at like South Park's gourmet pies (S: $10.95; M: $15.95; L: $19.95; Extra L: $22.95).

If the reviews stay favorable, Deloch is open to making the new dishes a brunch fixture.

"If I get an overwhelming response, I'll keep them," he said. So if you're looking for a new dining spot this weekend, stop into the Tavern, order a beermosa or one of their many rotating tap specials, and give one of these new pies a try. If you like what you taste, let your voice be heard and spread the word.
