Olive Mediterranean Grill, located at 6129 N. Dixie Dr. in Harrison Twp., has built a reputation on its delicious cuisine since opening roughly two years ago. It has quickly become known as one of the best Mediterranean eateries in the region.
This Olive should not be confused with Olive: an Urban Dive, which closed in 2015 in the current downtown Dayton home of Arepas & Co Colombian Comfort Food, or the former Green Olive restaurant a few miles south of it on Dixie.

Modestly decorated in the site of a former Milano's, Olive Mediterranean Grill is across from Hoagie's Pizza, a Dayton mainstay for more than 45 years.
A cartoon olive giving a thumbs up is on the restaurant’s logo.
>> Classic Dayton restaurants you have to try and love
Its olive green building draws the eye, but it is the food that should get your attention.
Olive has a big carryout business, but as I learned on recent visit, the winner of Dayton.com's Best of Dayton in the Mediterranean/Greek Dining category has a lunch special that's hard to pass up.

A version of Olive's mix platter, $12.99 on the dinner menu, is just $8.99 on the lunch menu, and you get a fountain drink to boot as part of the dine-in-only deal.
Here's what you get: zesty tzatziki sauce, and a good amount of kufta kabob (meatball rolls), shish tawook (grilled and marinated chicken) and gyro meat on a bed of slightly seasoned basmati rice with a fresh Greek salad packed with tomatoes, banana peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, feta cheese and kalamata olives.
So good, and so good for you.

I added a piece of pita bread to my order for just 80 cents more.
Olive offers free baklava for Yelp check-ins and a 10 percent discount for Facebook reviews and check-ins.
Its menu is full of dishes that will be familiar to American fans of Greek, Turkish and Lebanese food — a lamb shank, various kabobs, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, fava bean dip, Turkish coffee, and more.
