They are not trying to rush the summer, but ready or not, the high school football season is less than six weeks away. Area teams can begin two-a-day workouts two weeks from next Monday, but that doesn’t mean they have to wait that long.

Several teams were on the field Friday for the annual 7-on-7 competition hosted by the Dayton Flyers football coaches at Welcome Stadium

Northmont, Springfield, Chaminade-Julienne, Centerville, Miamisburg, Wayne, Coldwater, Belmont and Greenville were all there to battle 90-degree temperatures to get ready for the 2018 season.

Northmont head coach Tony Broering says the day-long workout is a plus for a T-Bolt team that has some holes to fill.

“We’re learning, that’s why we come down here to get a lot of practice in and get a good learning environment,” he said.
