Atlantic 10 to honor Bucky Bockhorn in March

Carol (Lammers) Lafountain also part of 2017 Legends class

Dayton Flyers greats Bucky Bockhorn and Carol (Lammers) Lafountain will be honored at the Atlantic 10 tournament in March as a member of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Legends class.

Bockhorn, who has called UD games on the radio since 1970 and has partnered with Larry Hansgen on WHIO for the last 34 seasons, ranks 53rd in UD history with 941 points. He played for the Flyers from 1955-58. The Flyers twice were NIT runners-up during his career. He averaged 10.8 points and 12.4 rebounds as a senior.

Bockhorn played seven seasons (1958-65) in the NBA with the Cincinnati Royals, averaging 11.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He is a member of UD's Hall of Fame and was named to its all-century team. He was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Lammers, of Miller City, Ohio, played for Dayton from 1977-81. She was inducted into the UD Hall of Fame in 1989. She ranks second in school history with 2,151 points. She averaged 19.5 points as a senior.

The A-10 legends will be honored during the conference tournament semifinals on March 11 at PPG Paints Arena.

The A-10 honored Dayton’s Jim Paxson (1975-79) and Sandy Johnson (1973-77) last season. In 2015, it honored Don May (1964-68) and Donna Burks (1981-85). Dayton’s 2014 honorees were coach Don Donoher (1964-89) and Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah (1978-80). The first legends class in 2013 included Don Meineke (1949-52) and Ann Meyers (1976-80).
