According to a CBS News spokesman, network producer Alturo Rhymes is looking at the Dayton economy. One of the bright spots is the city’s minor league baseball team, he said.
The Dragons opened their 2010 season Thursday at Fifth Third Field. The team has sold out each of the last 10 seasons.
The CBS crew interviewed Dragons team officials before the game, Nichols said.
Fans probably didn’t notice the network crew amid the other television camera operators covering the opening-day action. “It’s just another camera guy running around, from the fans’ perspective,” Nichols said.
The Dragons’ story is likely to be part of a CBS Evening News series that will examine how a number of cities’ economies are faring in the current economic climate, the network spokesman said.
A broadcast date has not been determined, but the story might not air for a week or two, the spokesman said.
