Tecumseh High School graduate J.T. Brubaker was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft. He was the 187th overall pick.
A junior at the University of Akron, Brubaker is a 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. He was 5-4 with a 3.63 ERA in 15 starts this spring for the Zips. He struck out 72 batters in 89 1/3 innings.
Brubaker earned three varsity letters at Tecumseh. He was a two-time All-Central Buckeye Conference selection. He’s the son of Frank and Teresa Brubaker.
Frank Brubaker pitched in the New York Yankees organization.
