New and improved: 64 synthetic lanes (Brunswick Pro Lane); family-friendly bumpers; new carpeting, sound system and masking units

Beaver-Vu Bowl proprietor Doug Wilson still does a double take when he walks onto the concourse.

“I’m not used to it yet,” Wilson said. “It’s a great fresh look, really appealing to the eye, and it will appeal to all of our customers, from serious league bowlers to casual bowlers and families.”

The 64-lane Beavercreek bowling center is hosting its grand reopening festivities this weekend after completing a two-month renovation project with a price tag that topped the $500,000 mark.

“We are investing in the future and positioning ourselves for an upturn in the economy,” Wilson said. “We felt like it was time to reinvest in the game.”

That reinvestment started with the lanes, as the traditional wood surface was replaced by 64 synthetic lanes, specifically the Brunswick Pro Lane. Wilson thinks league bowlers will be pleased with the change. The Beavercreek center has more than 45 leagues slated for the 2011-12 season.

“Our bowlers should expect a more consistent, even condition from lane to lane and week to week throughout the season,” Wilson said.

But the new lanes are more than functional, they are fun as they glow in black light. Wilson fitted the entire center with black lights and installed a new sound system for use during Beaver-Vu Lights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Other changes to the Beavercreek center include the installation of a family-friendly bumper system that is programmable by bowler, enabling bumper and regular bowlers to play on the same lane.

New carpeting and masking units round out the cosmetic changes to the Dayton area’s largest bowling center. Several new family fun packages have been added to Beaver-Vu’s offerings.

“Our greatest areas of growth right now are in youth and family bowling, so we wanted to make sure we appealed to those markets,” Wilson said.
