Writer Anthony Cosenza of SB Nation studied film of Ross, and marveled, "It's his insane ability to make plays in space. Whether it's on slants, bubble screens or end-around plays, Ross can dance around defenders as well as he runs away from them."

Hawkins did some of that while he was with the Bengals from 2011-’13, especially in his breakout season of 2012 when he caught 51 passes for 533 yards and four touchdowns.
The former un-drafted free agent from the University of Toledo, who played two seasons in the Canadian Football League before the Bengals picked him up, is 5-feet-7, 180 pounds and quick (now with the Patriots). He once ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds.
Fans, coaches and players can begin drawing conclusions for themselves one week from today, as the Bengals will open training camp July 28 at 3 p.m. on the fields west of Paul Brown Stadium, at 3 p.m. Gates open at 2:30, and admittance is free.
