The Cincinnati Bengals may be struggling to string together wins, but kicker Randy Bullocks’s second favorite team has been on an impressive role.

Growing up near Houston, Bullock grew up cheering for the Astros is rooting for them to win their first World Series.

Bullock also talked about his friendship with former Bengals kicker Jake Elliott and his idol worship of Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, whom he will kick against Sunday, for this week’s Cincinnati Bengals High 5:

Q: How closely have you been following the Astros' run to the World Series?

A: I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I've watched the end of some of the games. And if I don't see the end I obviously I check the score to see who won. But I haven't watched any of them from start to finish. Last thing I saw Wednesday night was the Dodgers were winning 3-1. I didn't watch the end but I was glad to see the Astros came out on top. I remember (the 2005 World Series). It was fun seeing the city go crazy and all that.

Q: Do you remember the first big sporting even you ever attended as a fan?

A: I think it would probably be an Astros game back when they were in the Astrodome. That was a long time ago. That was in their hey day, too, so it was a lot of fun. We used to do a lot of things like that with my family. It'd be the four of us, my mom, my dad and my brother. We'd make an afternoon or an evening out of it for a family event.

Q: Is there a little extra excitement this week competing against a future Hall of Famer in Indianapolis' Adam Vinatieri?

A: Absolutely. Adam is one of the best to ever do it. Like you said, he's a future Hall of Famer. Growing up I watched him play. He's one of the reasons I do what I do today. I followed him very closely when I was growing up. He's been doing it for a long time now. It's crazy to be able to play against a guy like that.

Q: Were you watching that playoff game against the Raiders when he made the game-tying and game-winning kicks in the snow?

A: I was. I was 12 years old. I remember that game well. It was the Tuck Rule game, too. Obviously that's what put him on the map. I was already a fan of his, so I was rooting for the Patriots. You always pull for guys like that in those situations. I'm looking forward to talking to him Sunday. There's only a few of us out there, so all of us know each other pretty well. It's a small fraternity. Everybody gets together before the game and kind of catches up and then we go about our business.

Q: How much have you stayed in touch with Jake Elliott since he signed with Philadelphia after you won the job?

A: Yeah. We've stayed in touch. When he got released and came back on the practice squad, we were still helping each other. Once he got picked up in Philadelphia, I was really happy for him. As a kicker, that's the best-case scenario. You want an opportunity to play and be a part of it. He's having a good year, and hopefully it continues for him. I saw the video when they carried him off the field after the 61-yarder (to beat the Giants). That was great. I'm sure that was an awesome feeling for him.
