Bengals Will Be Featured In HBO Series

The Cincinnati Bengals are giving the all-access pass to HBO later this summer.

The cable network will bring its "Hard Knocks" series to the stripes training camp down in Georgetown, Kentucky. Last year, the Dallas Cowboys were the ones followed through training camp.

If you've never seen it, "Hard Knocks" is five, one-hour shows starting when the Bengals leave for training camp until the final cutdown day.

HBO started the program in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore then, so he's familiar with how it works. Still, television executives had to do some arm-twisting to get the team to go along.

HBO will have a 24-person crew and access to every meeting, dorm room and practice field. Stay tuned.

The Bengals have only one winning record since 1991, when owner Mike Brown took over. One intriguing subplot will be how Brown, who shies away from cameras, comes across in the episodes. Brown didn't attend a news conference about the show.
