The separation agreement was obtained by the Dayton Daily News through a public records request.
Donlon compiled a record of 109-94 during his six seasons as head coach, including 22-13 last year while leading the Raiders to the Horizon League tournament championship game for the third time in four seasons.
WSU lost all three of those title games, including a 78-69 decision against Green Bay this year, leading athletic director Bob Grant to make a change. WSU hired Scott Nagy, who went 410-240 in 21 seasons at South Dakota State, on April 4. The Dayton Daily News has requested details of his contract.
Donlon was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan on May 4.
Other details of Donlon’s separation agreement include:
- WSU shall characterize the separation as a voluntary resignation.
- Donlon will refrain from making or publishing any disparaging or false statements about WSU or any school employees.
- Donlon will not apply for, be employed by or otherwise seek employment at any time with Wright State.
- Donlon will refrain from contacting, recruiting, seeking to recruit or directing any other person or entity to contact or recruit to another institution any high school athlete previous contacted or recruited by WSU, unless the athlete had been contacted or recruited by the other institution prior to Donlon's resignation.
- Donlon agrees to keep the terms of the separation agreement, as well as all discussions concerning it, confidential and is only allowed to say "an agreement between WSU and me has been reached."
- If Donlon desires input from WSU in connection with any search for future employment, all inquiries shall be directed to Grant, who will provide only the following information — the dates Donlon was employed, the positions in which he was employed, and that during that employment he did not, to the best off WSU's knowledge and belief, commit any NCAA rules infractions.
- Donlon agrees not to sue or be a party to any lawsuit against the "State of Ohio, Wright State, WSU's current trustees, executives, officers, administrators, representatives, agents, attorneys, employees, affiliates, ventures, programs and all other related entities of WSU and the respective heirs, predecessors, successors."
