Billy Hamilton tied a Cincinnati Reds icon Wednesday afternoon in New York.

The speedy centerfielder tied Eric Davis for fifth in franchise history with his 270th career steal.

Hamilton will take over sole possession of fifth place with his next steal, but it’s a long way to No. 4.

That spot belongs to Bob Bescher, a Wittenberg graduate who stole 320 bags for the Reds from 1908-1913. He was a four-time National League steals champion.

Joe Morgan is the Reds’ all-time leader with 406 steals followed by Barry Larkin *379) and Davey Concepcion (321).

HAL MCCOY: Is this the year Hamilton wins a Gold Glove?

Hamilton has 27 steals on the season after swiping more than 50 bags in each of the previous four.
