Bishop Leibold Receives National Honor

Four Catholic Elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, including Bishop Leibold in Dayton have been recognized as No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools for 2008.

Bishop Leibold was just one of seven schools statewide to receive the honor, which was announced on Tuesday by U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spelling.

The U.S. Department of Education’s No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati is the 26th largest Catholic diocese in the country, with almost 500,000 Catholics, and has the eighth largest network of Catholic schools in terms of enrollment. The 19-county territory includes 220 parishes and 113 Catholic primary and secondary schools.
