The Columbus Blue Jackets signed former Miami RedHawks forward Sean Kuraly to a four-year, $10 million contract on Wednesday.

Kuraly, who’s from Dublin, was a fifth-round pick in 2011 by the San Jose Sharks in the NHL Early Entry Draft and played for Miami from 2012-16.

Kuraly made his NHL debut in 2016 with the Boston Bruins and played the last five seasons with that franchise. He goes from a team that finished 33-16 last season to one that was 18-26.

“I’ve played against this team the last few years, and I’ve got a ton of respect for the guys on this team, the way this team plays,” Kuraly told The Athletic. “I believe in what’s going on here. I believe in management. I believe in the direction. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have considered signing here. It’s just a plus that it’s in my hometown.”
