Boys Basketball: Coaching changes for 2017-18

The following boys high school basketball head coaching changes have been made since last season.

Ben Logan: All-time Raiders leading scorer Cam Saylor succeeded Matt McCurdy. Saylor was an assistant at Bluffton University the last four seasons.

Bradford: Mackenzie Perry resigned after two seasons to succeed Josh Sagester as the boys coach at Tri-Village. Succeeded by Dante Dunston, previously an assistant at Columbus Linden McKinley. Dunston is from Dallas and played basketball at Shawnee State.

Dunbar: Charles Taylor succeeded Pete Pullen, who was not retained after guiding the Wolverines to four D-II state titles in 13 seasons and two other state final fours. It's the first head coaching position for Taylor, previously an AAU and Stivers middle school coach.

Eaton: Alex Prater is the fifth Eagles coach in the last four seasons. He succeeded Sean Sims, who resigned last fall to accept a coaching position at Cleveland State. Sims succeeded Bob Madden, who was in place just one season.

Graham: Nathan Warner resigned from Northeastern and succeeded Julian Grasso, who's now an assistant at Fairmont.

Milton-Union: Mitch Westerheide succeeded Mike Piatt, who resigned after one season. A Fort Loramie grad and Capital University standout, Westerheide was an Edison State assistant last season

Newton: Gavin Spitler takes over the Indians boys after being Newton's girls coach the last two seasons. He succeeded Neal Hans.

Northeastern: Nathan Warner resigned after two seasons to succeed Grasso at Graham.

Piqua: Steve Grasso succeeded Heath Butler. Grasso was an assistant for his brother Julian at Graham last season, but prior to that had revived the boys program at Yellow Springs.

Ross: David Lane was promoted to succeed Brian Gunter, who abruptly quit last September as athletic director and coach after three seasons. Gunter previously was the head coach at Arcanum, Valley View and Northwestern.

Springboro: Kyle Youker was promoted to succeed Mike Holweger, who resigned after four seasons. Youker was a Springboro freshman and JV coach.

Talawanda: Baseball coach Tim Reed added the boys basketball position. That opened when Chris Coles, son of former Miami University men's coach Charlie Coles, was removed from the position by AD Wes Cole. Eddie Glaser resigned last spring after two seasons.

Tippecanoe: Adam Toohey succeeded Joel Visser. Toohey previously coached at CHCA, Monroe and Mason.

Tri-Village: Mackenzie Perry succeeds Josh Sagester, who resigned but remains the district superintendent. Perry previously was the coach at Bradford the last two seasons. Prior to that he was an assistant at Troy Christian.

Wayne: Nathan Martindale was promoted to succeed Kevin Kuwik, a former Dayton men's assistant. Kuwik was named to succeed Travis Trice, who resigned to succeed Sonya Miller as the Warriors' girls coach. Kuwik resigned a month later to become director of basketball operations at A-10 member and UD rival Davidson.
