Cincinnati Reds prospect Tyler Mahle has done both this season, having been named the Southern League Player of the Month for April by Minor League Baseball on Monday.
Mahle, a right-handed starter for the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos, threw the Southern League's first perfect game in 47 years on April 22.
That domination of the Mobile BayBears was part of a month in which Mahle led the league in ERA (0.55) and lead Double-A in WHIP (.52) and innings pitched (32 2/3).
