Landers, a 6-4, 220-pound guard who joins former Wayne teammate Xeyrius Williams at UD, enrolled in school in June for the second summer session and has practiced with the team since then. He’ll travel to Spain with the rest of the Flyers on Friday and play his first games with UD next week in Madrid and Barcelona. Landers wears No. 12.
On Thursday, before Dayton’s last practice before it’s trip to Spain, coach Archie Miller said Landers has been a pleasant surprise.
“He’s done a nice job,” Miller said. “He’s the only newcomer here due to the fact that Kostas is in Greece (with the U-20 national team). It’s a two-man class. You’re looking at a guy for the first time in a veteran-oriented group. Typically, you see guys get overwhelmed and confused. I think he’s done a nice job fitting in. He’s got to get in better shape as any high school player does. As he continues to develop within what we’re doing, you can tell he’s a competitive kid. He’s a physical kid. He’s going to bring a style we’re accustomed to seeing in our wing guys.”
