Wright State shares the Horizon League lead in opponents turnovers (47 in two games) with Detroit. Senior guard Ivory James leads the league with 4.5 steals per game.
“The personnel is different,” Bradbury said. “It’s the way this team needs to play. It just fits.”
The Raiders won their opener 67-64 at Southern Illinois on Nov. 8 and beat Miami 90-63 on Tuesday at the Nutter Center.
James averages 19 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the league. She also leads the Raiders with 8 rebounds per game.
“She’s very talented,” Bradbury said. “She’s very athletic. We need a second scorer. Ivory needs to be the second scorer every night.”
Wright State’s depth will get a boost in December when transfers Symone Denham, a sophomore guard, and Kourtni Perry, a sophomore forward, become eligible. Bradbury hopes they’ll be able to play for the first time in the Wright State Invitational, which starts Dec. 20.
The Raiders stay home for two intriguing home games this week: against Memphis at 7 tonight and against Akron at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The Raiders finished the season 6-10-2. That’s a two-win improvement from last season.
Women's soccer: The Raiders lost their first game in the Horizon League tournament on penalty kicks in the semifinals to Oakland last Friday in Milwaukee.
Wright State, the No. 2 seed, out-shot Oakland 23-8 in regulation, but the teams remained scoreless. Oakland had a 6-1 shot advantage in the two overtime periods.
Oakland won 4-3 in penalty kicks. The Raiders finished the season 8-5-5. Milwaukee won the Horizon tournament championship, 4-3 over Oakland on a goal with 23 seconds left in the second half.
