Ohio State’s Bell still debating NFL decision

Most of Ohio State’s draft-eligible juniors have not publicly announced their intentions for the 2016 season: stay with the Buckeyes or take their chances in the NFL draft.

Safety Vonn Bell is one. At a press conference at the Camelback Inn on Monday morning, four days before the Fiesta Bowl, Bell said he had talked to his parents and would make a decision after this game. He has already accomplished much of what he set out to do in his college career.

“I said I was going to win a national championship,” Bell said. “I said I was going to be in the (Jim Thorpe Award) semifinals. I said I was going to be All-American. It all came down to that. It really happened. I lived the dream. I was blessed to be a part of that.”

Asked what would keep him at Ohio State, Bell said, “The people and coach (Urban Meyer). Really, that’s my guy. We’ve had this iron-clad commitment to each other. I just looked to him as a father figure. We have a close relationship.”

On the other side, if he chooses to leave school early to play in the NFL, it would be one simple reason.

“Go live the dream,” Bell said.
