Urban Meyer on 50th victory: ‘That’s incredible’

Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 149 yards and four touchdowns as No. 7 Ohio State handled No. 8 Notre Dame 44-28 in the Fiesta Bowl on Friday at University of Phoenix Stadium. The four TDs tied a Fiesta Bowl record.

It’s the 50th victory in the last four years for coach Urban Meyer and for the senior class, which includes Wayne’s Braxton Miller and Vandalia Butler’s Taylor Decker.

“Our team just won their 50th game,” Meyer said. “That’s incredible when I sit and think about it … It’s an incredible achievement for a group of players that I love as much as I’ve ever loved a group of players.”

J.T. Barrett added 211 yards passing and 96 rushing for the Buckeyes (12-1). Michael Thomas led the Buckeyes with seven catches for 72 yards.

In his final game, Miller rushed twice for 27 yards and caught two passes for 12 yards.

The Buckeyes lost defensive end Joey Bosa in the first quarter. He was ejected for targeting.

“Oh, my goodness, that was a kidney shot,” said Meyer of losing Bosa. “I guess it was a proper call. He hit him below, but it was leading with the crown of the helmet.”
