Miami icers fall in Sunshine State

ESTERO, Fla. — The sixth-ranked Miami RedHawks dropped a 4-3 decision to St. Cloud State on Thursday night in the championship game of the Florida College Classic.

Miami rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a pair of third-period goals, but couldn’t get the tying goal past St. Cloud goaltender Mike Lee, who made 28 saves.

The RedHawks outshot the Huskies 31-11, including a 15-3 edge in the third period.

Nic Dowd had a goal and two assists for SCSU (7-11-2).

Pat Cannone and Reilly Smith had a goal and an assist apiece for Miami (11-6-3). Cameron Schilling also scored for the RedHawks, who return to Central Collegiate Hockey Association play Jan. 7-8 at Ohio State.
