Cooke, Pierre earn All-A-10 honors for Dayton Flyers

The Atlantic 10 Conference named Dayton Flyers junior guard Charles Cooke to the all-conference first team Tuesday and senior forward Dyshawn Pierre to the second team.

In his first season on the court with Dayton after transferring from James Madison, Cooke leads the team in scoring (15.8 points per game), 3-pointers (53 of 129, 41.1 percent) and steals (35). Cooke was also named to the all-defensive team.

Cooke is the seventh Flyer to earn first-team honors in the A-1o, following Ryan Perryman (1998), Mark Ashman (2000), Keith Waleskowski (2004), Brian Roberts (2008), Chris Wright (2010) and Jordan Sibert (2015).

Pierre, who celebrated Senior Night at UD Arena on Saturday, ranks second on the team with 12.6 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (8.5). He ranks 25th in UD history in scoring (1,385) and 14th in rebounding (813).

St. Joseph’s DeAndre Bembry was named A-10 Player of the Year. Fordham’s Joseph Chartouny was named the top rookie. Mark Schmidt, of St. Bonaventure, won coach of the year.

St. Joseph’s Isaiah Miles won the Chris Daniels Most Improved Player Award. Massachusetts’ Jabarie Hinds and St. Bonaventure’s Denzel Gregg split the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
