Dayton dominates Duquesne to stop two-game skid

Cunningham leads Flyers with 21 points

Dayton (11-12, 5-6) improved to 9-4 at home. The Flyers ended a two-game losing streak.

Josh Cunningham led Dayton with 21 points. Jordan Davis scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half. He made 4 of 5 3-pointers. Darrell Davis added 20 points. Trey Landers had 12 points.

Dayton shot 64.6 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from 3-point range (8 of 14).

Dayton opened the second half on a 20-5 run and led comfortably the rest of the way. Duquesne (15-10, 6-6) has lost four of its last five games.


Dayton outscored Duquesne 3-0 at the foul line in the first half, and that was the difference as UD built a 29-26 halftime lead Wednesday at UD Arena.

Dayton’s star: Josh Cunningham made 3 of 8 shots from the field and scored eight points. He had five rebounds.

Duquesne’s star: Rene Castro-Caneddy made 4 of 7 shots and scored nine points.

Key stat: Each team made 11 of 24 shots from the field. Each team also made four 3-pointers.

Foul trouble: Dayton’s Jalen Crutcher had two fouls in the first half. Duquesne’s Tarin Smith also has two.

Biggest lead: Dayton led 18-13 with 8:35 left. Duquesne’s biggest lead was two points in the opening minutes.
