Dayton Flyers learn quarterfinal opponent in A-10 tournament

The third-seeded Dayton Flyers will play No. 6 seed Saint Louis in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The Billikens rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final eight minutes to beat No. 11 seed Richmond 71-68 in the final second-round game at the Barclays Center on Thursday night. Hasahn French led the Billikens (19-12) with 22 points.

Dayton (21-10) split with Saint Louis in the regular losing, losing 73-60 in St. Louis on Feb. 5 and winning 70-62 at UD Arena on Feb. 23.

The Flyers and Billikens haven’t met in the A-10 tournament since 2008 when Dayton won 63-62 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

Here are the three other A-10 quarterfinal matchups on Friday. All three games feature teams that split two games in the regular season.

• No. 8 seed Rhode Island beat No. 9 La Salle 76-57 and will play No. 1 Virginia Commonwealth at noon.

• No. 5 George Mason beat No. 12 George Washington 57-51 and will play No. 4 St. Bonaventure at 2:30 p.m.

• No. 10 Saint Joseph’s beat No. 7 Duquesne 92-86 and will play No. 2 Davidson at 6 p.m.
