Dayton Gems Hockey Returns

The Miami Valley is getting a new hockey team. Tuesday morning, Hara Arena announced the return of the Dayton Gems at Hara Arena.

The Dayton Gems started playing hockey at Hara Arena in 1964 and played 14 seasons in Dayton before ceasing operations.

Two men from Fort Wayne, Indiana bought the franchise that will be part of the International Hockey League.

The new Dayton Gems will begin play this October.

This is the 6th hockey team that will play at Hara Arena in its 50-year history.

The Dayton Bombers announced in March that they would not be playing at the Ervin J. Nutter Center this coming season.

The schedule for the new Dayton Gems hockey team has not been released.
