Dayton offers scholarship to guard from Puerto Rico

UD has offered scholarships to seven members of 2023 class

A busy month for Dayton Flyers coaches continued Sunday as they offered a scholarship to Geancarlo Peguero, a 6-foot-6 guard from Puerto Rico who attends Gill St. Bernard’s School in Gladstone, N.J. It was the first Division I offer for Peguero.

Peguero and the New York Jayhawks, his AAU team, announced the offer on Twitter. Former Flyers Obi Toppin and Frankie Policelli played for the Jayhawks.

Peguero was the fourth member of the 2023 class to receive an offer from Dayton in a four-day stretch.

Jayden Hastings, a 6-foot-9 forward from Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, received an offer Thursday. Taylor Bol Bowen, a 6-foot-8 forward who’s from Vermont and attends the Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, announced an offer Saturday, as did Gavin Griffiths, a 6-7 guard from Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn.

There are now seven members of the 2023 class who have received UD offers. The others are: Jayden Reid, a 5-foot-11 guard from Long Island Lutheran High School; Lawrent Rice, a 6-3 guard from Wayne High School; and Gabe Cupps, a 6-2 guard from Centerville High School.
