Nwokeji attended Maclay School in Tallahassee, Fla., before transferring to The Rock Academy in Gainesville, Fla., for his senior year. He planned to spend a post-graduate year at SPIRE in Geneva, Ohio, but will leave the school to start his college career. He will be on campus starting in the second semester in January but won’t play for the Flyers until the 2020-21 season.
Boston College and Texas A&M were among the other schools recruiting him since he decommitted from Florida State. Dayton started showing interest in Nwokeji soon after he reopened his recruitment and visited him at SPIRE on Dec. 10, according to a report by Jake Weingarten, of Stockrisers.com. Dayton head coach Anthony Grant and assistant coach Anthony Solomon were at Spire the previous week, according to a Twitter post by Spire Academy Director Justin Brantley.
