Dayton pulls away in second half to beat Capital in exhibition game

Trey Landers and Jhery Matos each scored 15 points to lead the Dayton Flyers to an 89-71 victory against Capital in an exhibition game Friday at UD Arena.

Playing their only public exhibition game before their season opener Wednesday against North Florida, Dayton pulled away in the second half against a Division III opponent coached by Dayton alum Damon Goodwin.

ROSTER NEWS: Two new players join Flyers just before opener

Josh Cunningham had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Mikesell scored 12 points. Jalen Crutcher had 11 points. Obi Toppin scored 10 points, exciting the crowd with two dunks.

Dayton shot 64 percent from the field. Capital shot 50 percent.

Two new Dayton walk-ons, Jabali Leonard and Christian Wilson, scored in the final minute.
