Fairborn High School graduate and former Dayton Flyers safety Brandon Easterling received an invitation to the New York Giants rookie minicamp, according to a report on Instagram by agent Malki Kawa, of First Round Management.

Easterling was a co-captain last season as a fifth-year senior at Dayton. He led the team with 93 tackles. As a junior in 2019, he led FCS football in solo tackles (7.5 per game) and ranked second in total tackles (12.7) and first in nine turnovers acquired (six interceptions and three fumbles).

Dayton has one former player in the NFL right now: tight end Adam Trautman, who has caught 42 passes in two seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Trautman was a third-round pick in 2020.

A number of former Flyers have earned NFL camp invitations in recent years.

In 2019, punter Sean Smith, a four-time All-Pioneer Football League selection, signed with the Baltimore Ravens, and long snapper Matt Tunnacliffe, a Fenwick High School graduate who was a three-year starter and all-league first-team selection as a senior at Dayton, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Dayton cornerback Christian Searles earned an invitation to Washington Redskins rookie minicamp in 2018. Cameron Stubbs signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.

Kyle Sebetic attended training camp with the New York Giants in 2014.
