Dayton Women's Basketball Schedule Announced

The University of Dayton has announced its complete 2010-11 women’s basketball schedule, including a recently-finalized 14-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, in addition to the 14-game non-conference portion released earlier this summer.

Three of Dayton’s A-10 games will be televised, and all three are against teams that advanced to the postseason in 2009-10. UD’s conference opener at Xavier on Jan. 9 will be broadcast on ESPN2. The Flyers’ home game versus Duquesne on Jan. 15 will be aired on CBS College Sports, as will their road game against Temple on Feb. 19.

Of the Flyers’ 14 conference games, eight will be against opponents that advanced to the postseason last year.

UD starts A-10 action at Xavier on Jan. 9 and the Flyers will host the Musketeers on Feb. 5 at UD Arena. Other Atlantic 10 home games include: Duquesne on Jan. 15, George Washington on Jan. 19, La Salle on Jan. 26, Saint Joseph’s on Jan. 29, Massachusetts on Feb. 9 and Fordham on Feb. 26.

The Flyers’ A-10 road games include: Saint Louis on Jan. 12, Richmond on Jan. 22, St. Bonaventure on Feb. 2, Charlotte on Feb. 12, Temple on Feb. 19 and Rhode Island on Feb. 23. The A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship will be played at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass., March 4-7. First round action of the Championship tips off on Friday, March 4, with the top four teams earning a bye.

Quarterfinal play continues on Saturday, March 5, with the Semifinal round on Sunday, March 6 on CBS College Sports. The Championship game will be held on Monday, March 7, and televised live on ESPN2 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Fresh off a year in which the Flyers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and tied a program record for wins; UD plays a 14-game non-conference schedule that includes teams from the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Horizon League, MAC, PAC-10 and Ivy League.

The Flyers will host five non-conference games, starting off with Penn State on Nov. 12 in their season opener. Dayton also has home games against Illinois-Chicago, Cincinnati, Toledo and Harvard. The non-conference road games include Michigan State, Louisville, California State-Bakersfield and Boston College. The Flyers will also play in two tournaments; facing off against South Dakota in the Minnesota Subway Classic and then taking on either Milwaukee or the host Golden Gophers. UD will play in the Women of Troy Basketball Tournament in Los Angeles Dec. 18-19. They will face San Diego State, which advanced to the Sweet 16 last season, and then either Colorado or the host USC.

Dayton advanced to its first NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship appearance in 2010, posting a dramatic 18-point comeback for a first round win over TCU. The Flyers fell to Tennessee in the second round and finished the season 25-8 overall, tying a modern-era record for victories.

Dayton graduates just one player and adds the OHSBCA Ohio Division I Player of the Year Cassie Sant of Fairmont for the 2010-11 season.
