DeSclafani signs free-agent deal with Giants

Anthony DeSclafani, who became a free agent after the 2020 season, his fifth with the Cincinnati Reds, signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

DeSclafani, 30, was 1-2 with a 7.22 ERA in 2020. He started seven games and made two relief appearances. He was 35-37 with a 4.19 ERA in his five seasons with the Reds. His best season was 2016 when he was 9-5 with a 3.28 ERA.

The Reds acquired DeSclafani and catcher Chad Wallach in December 2014 from the Miami Marlins for Mat Latos.

In other Reds news:

• The Reds traded minor league outfielder Jose Acosta to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday for outfielder Scott Heineman, who hit .154 in 24 games last season with the Rangers. Heineman, 28, was a 19th-round pick in 2014. He made his big-league debut in 2019.

Acosta, 20, hit .370 in 10 games in the Arizona League in 2019.
