Dragons Shutout Clinton 1-0

Dragons starting pitcher Curtis Partch and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as Dayton defeated the Clinton LumberKings 1-0 on Thursday night. The Dragons have won the first two games of the series.

Partch (5-7) tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed six hits and walked two while striking out three to break a personal four-game losing streak. Partch's last win came June 5th.

Aguido Gonzalez worked the final two innings for his 10th save. Gonzalez allowed just one base runner, on a walk, and struck out three.

The Dragons took the lead in the sixth inning. Andrew Means reached on an infield single and went to second on a wild pitch. Means advanced to third on a ground out and raced home on another wild pitch that bounced only a few feet from the catcher. Means got a great break off third and sprinted home, just beating the tag by the pitcher to give Dayton a 1-0 lead and the game's only run.

The Dragons collected 11 hits. Josh Fellhauer had three hits to lead the way while Means and Miguel Rojas each had two.

The Dragons (6-8, 34-50) close out the series at Clinton (5-9, 45-39) on Friday at 8:00 p.m. Mark James (1-2, 3.76) will start for the Dragons. The next home game at Fifth Third Field is Wednesday, July 15th against the Quad Cities River Bandits.
