Randy Duff has resigned at Miami Valley to become Chaminade Julienne’s girls high school basketball coach. He succeeds Mandy Myers.

It's the second area girls basketball coaching change on Tuesday. Former Stebbins boys coach Jeremey Finn was named to succeed Adam Woessner at Oakwood.

Duff has been coaching girls basketball for 15 years and oversaw a Miami Valley program that became a small-school power. He was twice selected as the Southwest District D-IV coach of the year, nine times a District 15 coach of the year and seven times as the Metro Buckeye Conference coach of the year.

Miami Valley was 17-5 overall season and won the MBC title at 8-2.

“CJ is in the best league in southwest Ohio,” Duff said in a release. “I love the young talent and the program.”

A CJ grad, Myers initially maintained the success that had vaulted the program among the state’s best. Taking over for Duane Williams in the 2011-12 season, that team advanced to the D-II regional semifinals and bettered that with an appearance in the D-II state final four the next season, its seventh and all since 1998. But CJ hasn’t had a winning team since.

The Eagles were 6-17 overall this past season, including 2-8 in the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North Division.

“We are very excited for Randy to be a part of the CJ community,” athletic director Brian Reinhart said. “His experience, background, talent and passion for high school athletics will complement and enhance our program tied into school mission. We believe he will bring out the best in our students both on and off the court and we are looking forward to working with him to achieve everyone’s greatest potential.”
