Dunbar makes its points, beats Belmont

Dunbar made its extra points count, which led to a 15-12 football win over Belmont on Thursday.

Belmont scored twice in the third quarter but failed on both of its two-point conversion attempts, which was the difference as Dunbar converted a two-point conversion and a conventional extra point.

Dunbar’s Ollie Lewis had 14 carries for 66 yards. He scored the first touchdown for Dunbar in the second quarter.

Belmont followed with a 9-yard touchdown run by Davion Lankford in the third. Dunbar scored again on a 5-yard run by Karvon Sampson.

Ke’Veon Young had a 4-yard touchdown run for Belmont.

Dunbar (3-1) has won two in a row since falling to Trotwood-Madison during the second week of the season. The Wolverines play Northmont on Sept. 21.

Boys Soccer

Centerville 4, Moeller 1: Sam Hofmann had a goal and an assist for the Elks (8-0). Brad Schluter, Garret Morrison and Andrew Holmes also scored for Centerville.

Oakwood 0, Eaton 0: Andrew Stephenson had five saves for Oakwood, earning his fifth shutout. Austin Sampson had eight saves for Eaton.

Carroll 8, Northmont 0: Eric Austria had five assists for Carroll (5-0-1). Quincy Pope had a goal and an assist, as did Trae' Collins.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 6, Franklin 0: Corinn Pruitt had two goals and an assist for Bellbrook (8-0-1). Monica Hennen also had three goals.

Preble Shawnee 2, Waynesville 0: Preble Shawnee (6-1-1) has won two in a row.

Volleyball

Alter 3, Carroll 1: Mary Rodehaver had 38 assists for Alter (6-4). Alex Manfreda led Carroll (2-6) with eight digs.

Oakwood 3, Eaton 1: Nakita Stotki had four aces, five kills and four blocks for Oakwood (7-3). Rachel Neff had seven digs and four aces, Abby Coyle 18 kills and five digs, Shannon O'Connor 45 assists and nine digs.

CJ 3, Fenwick 0: Grace Kauth had 15 kills and 12 digs for Chaminade Julienne (7-3). Beth Stumpf had 10 kills and 11 digs while Heidi Hess had 35 assists and 11 digs.

Troy 3, Vandalia 0: Mackenzie Rice led Troy (9-3) with 29 assists. Jenna Selby had 10 kills, two blocks and two aces. Cassandra Rice had 11 digs while Lauren Freed had eight kills, three aces and three digs.
