HS Football Playoff Scenarios: Who’s in

Here’s a look at teams we think are in the high school football playoffs. The top eight Division I, Region 2 teams and the top four in all other regions of Divisions II-VII will host first-round playoff games.

Divisions II, III, V and VII will play postseason games on Friday nights; Divisions I, IV and VI will play on Saturdays.

Nothing is official until the Ohio High School Athletic Association releases first-round pairings on Sunday afternoon. This information was culled from the website joeeitel.com/hsfoot/. Additional final regular-season games were played on Saturday and those outcomes could affect projected playoff status.

D-I, Region 2: Wayne (10-0) is a No. 3 seed and will host Reynoldsburg (7-3). Springboro (8-2) is a No. 11 seed and will be at Mason (8-2) in a rematch of their season opener that Mason won, 24-17.

D-II, Region 6: Miamisburg (9-1) is a No. 4 seed and host Lima Senior (8-2). Winton Woods’ 7-0 loss to Watterson enabled Vandalia-Butler (7-3) to grab the No. 8 seed. The Aviators will play at top-seeded and defending state champ LaSalle (8-2).

D-III, Region 10: Tippecanoe (9-1) is a No. 2 seed and will host Piqua (6-4). Trotwood-Madison (7-3) is a No. 3 seed and will host Celina (7-3). Belmont (7-1) is a No. 8 seed but could overtake Piqua for the No. 7 seed by beating Dunbar on Saturday night. If that happens Belmont would play at Tipp and Piqua would be at top-seeded Wapakoneta (10-0).

D-IV, Region 12: Indian Lake (8-2) is a No. 4 seed and will host Ottawa-Glandorf (7-3). Kenton Rdige (7-3) is a No. 6 seed and will be at Jonathan Alder (9-1).

D-IV, Region 14: Fenwick (10-0) is a No. 1 seed and will host Badin (7-3) in a rematch of Fenwick’s 38-31 Week 5 win. Clinton-Massie (9-1) is a No. 3 seed and will host Wyoming (8-2). Alter (8-1) is a No. 4 seed and will host Reading (9-1). Alter played Chaminade Julienne on Saturday but likely wouldn’t overtake Massie with a win.

D-V, Region 18: Brookville (10-0) is a No. 1 seed and will host Carlisle (6-4). Coldwater (10-0) is a No. 3 seed and will host Bethel-Tate (6-3). Milton-Union (6-4) is a No. 4 seed and will host Greeneview (7-3).

D-VI, Region 22: Marion Local (9-1) is a No. 1 seed and will host Miami East (8-2). Mechanicsburg (10-0) is a No. 2 seed and will host Williamsburg (7-2). West Liberty-Salem (8-2) is a No. 5 seed and will be at Cincinnati Country Day (9-1).

D-VII, Region 26: Minster (8-2) is a No. 1 seed and will host Fort Loramie (6-4). Covington (8-2) is a No. 2 seed and will host Lehman Catholic (6-4). Fort Recovery (8-2) is a No. 3 seed and will host Miami Valley Christian Academy (8-1).
