Greeneview grad Evan Bradds repeats as OVC Player of the Year

Evan Bradds of Belmont was selected Ohio Valley Conference player of the year for the second straight season.

Bradds, a Jamestown native and Greeneview High School graduate, led Division I in field goal percentage. He has shot 67.4 percent for his career, currently a conference record according to College Basketball Talk at NBCSports.com.

Bradds’ coach Rick Byrd was coach of the year after the Bison went 15-1 in league play and led Belmont to its fourth OVC title in five years.

The 6-foot-7, 200-pounder averaged 20.8 points per game during his senior season this year, the best of his career. He’s also averaged 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Bradds put an exclamation point on his season Saturday against Tennessee State, leading Belmont to a 68-63 win, playing 29 m inutes and going 10-for-10 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line for 22 points and seven rebounds.
