The first weekend of June not surprisingly was busy for high school football recruits across the country.

With college camps kicking off and official visits getting underway, the news spigot opened wide and let information flow heavily.

The biggest development involved Tavien St. Clair, a junior quarterback from Bellefontaine.

A week after Ohio State offered St. Clair, Alabama and LSU followed suit.

The 6-3, 210-pound St. Clair is a four-star prospect ranked No. 14 nationally among quarterbacks by 247Sports, and he has no shortage of great options for the next stage of his football career.

Louisville, Florida, Tennessee and Pitt are also among his 20-plus offers after St. Clair completed 208 of 294 passes for 2,453 yards and 25 touchdowns with four interceptions last season as the Chieftans went 8-3.

St. Clair is two spots behind Findlay’s Ryan Montgomery, who also has an Ohio State offer, in what looks like a very strong year for quarterbacks in the Buckeye State.

Jamison Kitna of Lakota East, who just picked up an offer from Buffalo, is ranked 28th among QBs in the 2025 class while Tyrell Lewis of Wayne is 44th. They are both three-star prospects at this point.

Kitna recently visited Kansas State…

Not to be overlooked, the area’s 2024 class also has at least a pair of Division I FBS prospects.

While Timothy Carpenter Jr. of Trotwood-Madison verbally committed to Indiana last month, Fairfield’s Talon Fisher announced recently he has an offer from Toledo.

Fisher, who is ranked fourth among Ohio quarterbacks behind Lewis Center Olentangy’s Ethan Grunkmeyer, Carpenter and Jacqai Long of Akron Hoban, also has offers from Army, Buffalo, Dartmouth, UMass and Miami (Ohio)…

Also of note from the past few days:

  • Centerville safety Reggie Powers, who counts Ohio State among his final five schools, took an official visit to Pittsburgh.
  • Standout junior Dorian Brew, a defensive back and receiver with many major offers including Ohio State and Notre Dame, recently was invited to the prestigious US Army All-American Bowl.
  • Kentucky offered Lakota West junior linebacker Grant Beerman, his first from a Power 5 conference team.
  • Toledo offered Springboro senior receiver/defensive back Will Yates, as did Tiffin.
  • Illinois State offered Trotwood senior receiver/DB Quinten Johnson.
  • Central Michigan offered Springfield sophomore defensive back Sincere Keyes. He is one of a handful of area members of the 2026 class already having an FBS offer in hand, joining Lakota West’s Cam Thomas (Marshall), Armani Rogers and Jamarcus Whyce of Trotwood-Madison (Massachusetts) and Cole Albers of Minster (Ball State).
  • Thomas reported visiting Notre Dame, which he described as a dream school, last weekend.
  • Dunbar running back/linebaacker Dai’Vontay Young won the state championship in the 110-meter hurdles. He led DPS with 104 tackles last season as a junior and ran for 610 yards and seven touchdowns.
