High School Highlights for Sept. 6

Kyle Schmidt fired off a 65 to help the Lakota East boys golf team win the Firebird Invitational at NCR North on Tuesday.

Schmidt took medalist honors. Austin Greaser of Vandalia was the runner-up at 68 and Connor Quigley of Oakwood had a 70. A.J. Cherubini (Centerville), Cameron Luczka (Fairmont), Casey Moore (Piketon) and Holden Scribner (Troy) each had a 71.

Lakota East shot a 283, followed by Centerville (293), Piketon (300), Fairmont (305) and Springboro (305).

Anna 168, Botkins 214: Zach Watren shot a 38 and Eli Kuck added a 39 for Anna. Josh Miller paced Botkins with a 42.

Bellbrook 165, Franklin 199: Raif Foster shot a 36 and Mason Zimmer added a 38 for Bellbrook.

Carroll 184, Dayton Christian 185: Tyler Goecke shot an even par 36 to help Carroll edge Dayton Christian.

Covington 200, Mississinawa Valley 222: Covington's Andrew Slusher shot a 35.

Fort Loramie 176, Jackson Center 195: Brad Gottemoeller had a 40 and Eli Rosengarten added a 41 for Fort Loramie. Brady Wildermuth and Coltin Rose both shot a 47 for Jackson Center.

Greenon 156, Riverside 194: Greenon's Jake Richards and Chris Winter both shot 35 to lead Greenon.

Mechanicsburg 179, Triad 182: Caleb Westfall turned in a 41 and Keane Dunn added a 45 for Mechanicsburg. Triad's Caleb Young led the field with a 37.

Newton 181, Miami East 214: Chet Jamison paced Newton with a 44 and Drew Thiesing added a 46. Tyler Weinert of Miami Valley was the medalist at 42.

Ross 188, Northwest 200: Mitchell Riley and Brett Hannon of Ross split medalist honors at 45.

Springfield Shawnee 165, Kenton Ridge 204: Grant Engle fired off a 33 and Caleb Deerwester added a 40 to help Shawnee improve to 7-0. Jake Browne led Kenton Ridge with a 46.

Edgewood 157, Northwest 172: Edgewood's Sarah Abner led the field with a 32.

Fairbanks 165, London 238: Natalie Parker shot a career-low 37 for Fairbanks.

Greenon 198, Ben Logan 217: Jo Wisecup shot a 40 to help Greenon improve to 9-1.

Miamisburg 188, Chaminade Julienne 190, West Carrollton 262: Allison Rang shot a 41 to help Miamisburg edge CJ.

Northmont 190, Vandalia 242: Amara Tipple shot a 43 and Hannah Toth added a 47 to help Northmont improve to 7-1.

Triad 230, Northeastern 251: Triad's Macy Linscott led the field with a 53.

Xenia Christian 136, Ponitz 153: Devin Wallace of Ponitz was the medalist with a 40.

Alter 1, Fenwick 1: Parker Simms scored for Alter off an assist from Evan Hartman. John Creech knocked in Fenwick's goal with an assist from Jacob Tebbe.

Bethel 3, Miami Valley 3: Bethel keeper Alex van Haaren headed in the tying goal off a corner kick from Korry Hamlin with 5 seconds to play.

Continental 2, Temple Christian 1: Taran Zwiebel had the lone goal for Temple Christian.

Monroe 2, Eaton 0: Monroe shut out Eaton in a battle of two top ten teams in the Area Coaches' Poll.

Sidney 2, Fairborn 0: Gage Fridley and Jalen Hudgins each netted a goal and Ian Humphrey had 4 saves in the shutout.

Girls Soccer

Monroe 9, Eaton 0: Monroe moved to 5-1 with the win.

Twin Valley South 4, Dixie 2: Abby Robertson paced TVS with 3 goals and Sydney Vorhis added the fourth.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Botkins 0: Gabby Hollar had a pair of goals, Caidryn Wade scored the third and Paige Shafer completed the shutout for WLS.

Girls Tennis

Edgewood 4, Middletown 1: Edgewood's Hannah Clemmons and Rebekah Moore notched wins in singles. Savannah Prater had a singles win for Middletown.

Greenon 4, Bellefontaine 1: Ariana McNeil and Courtney Brinkman turned in dominant singles performances for Greenon.

Madison 3, Franklin 2: Madi Porter and Emily Phelps each turned in straight set wins in singles for Madison. Franklin's doubles team of Kristin Tackett and Belenita Mouis won in first doubles.

Miami Valley 3, CHCA 2: The doubles team of Janine Quigley and Vennla Vallbhaneni won in three sets to give Miami Valley the edge.

Milton-Union 3, Brookville 0: Milton-Union swept the doubles portion, including a three set rally from Caitlyn Bushelman and Hannah Fugate. Laura Bowen and Leene Kokladas each had singles wins for Brookville.

Northwestern 5, Tecumseh 0: Addie Smith and Dana Coyle won their singles matches decisively.

Preble Shawnee 5, Greeneview 0: Ashlyn Hubbard turned in a straight set win in first singles and Preble Shawnee improved to 10-0.

Ross 5, Northwest 0: Ross moved to 6-1 with the win.

Valley View 4, Stivers 1: Valley View's Sara Snyder had a straight set win in first singles and the doubles team of Summer Staiger and Skylar Shane rallied for the win after dropping the first set.

Vandalia 3, Alter 2: Vandalia's doubles team of Ashley Hess and Jenna Albezreh rallied in a three set match. Amanda Showalter had a straight set win in first singles for Alter.

Ansonia 3, Bethel 0: Lydia Sink paced Ansonia with 16 kills and 12 digs and Emily Gariety added 5 kills with 5 digs.

Centerville 3, Springfield 0: Centerville improved to 3-0 in GWOC play.

Fairmont 3, Wayne 0: Maura Hill recorded 17 digs, Emma Meyer added 6 kills and Kara Jones had 4 aces for Fairmont.

Northeastern 3, Cedarville 1: Taylor Noel recorded 8 aces with 4 blocks and 3 assists to pace Northeastern. Kalley Schulz had 25 assists with 3 aces and 6 digs in a losing effort.

Ponitz 3, Dunbar 0: Aziza Nour tallied 12 kills with 3 aces and Dale'nasia Jones added 3 blocks for Ponitz.
