Alter bench comes up big in district win

MASON – When Allison Bockrath makes a few early shots, she’s tough to slow down.

“She can score the basketball,” said Chris Hart, the Alter High School girls basketball coach. “That’s kind of her forte.”

Bockrath was effective Friday, March 5, as she scored 19 points off the bench to lead Alter to a 57-36 defeat of Wyoming in a Division II district final at Mason Middle School. The Knights (20-2), ranked No. 3 in the D-II state AP poll, advanced to a regional semifinal matchup against Indian Hill at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Springfield High School.

Bockrath, a sophomore forward, made 6-of-9 shots and collected three assists and two steals as the Knights forced 27 turnovers. Alter also grabbed 19 offensive rebounds that turned into 26 second-chance points.

“We’ve found our legs again,” Hart said of Alter’s rebound from a 2-2 close to the regular season.

Indian Hill 63, Tippecanoe 44: Indian Hill out-scored Tipp 24-10 in the fourth.

Breanna Stucke led Tipp with 18 points. Nicole Bell and and Kelly Dunham each scored 18 points to lead Indian Hill.
