DeSales is set to face Tippecanoe in a Division III, Region 10 semifinal, and Griffin has helped his team reach this point. Last week, he scored three touchdowns, including twice on runs and once on a 61-yard punt return.
It seems almost unfair that Griffin would be in this situation, but he appears to be handling things well. He seemed very levelheaded in his comments after last week’s game to the Columbus Dispatch.
“I’m not my dad,” Griffin told the Dispatch. “I play like Adam plays, not the way Archie played. I do talk about football with my dad, but he doesn’t teach me things. He lets me be myself. My dad just wants me to play.”
DeSales is the same school Clark Kellogg’s sons attended, and they have been skilled basketball players. Seems like it could be the same with Griffin’s son on the gridiron.
Still, that’s a heavy name to carry in that town.
