The recently inducted Baseball Hall of Famer told Dan Patrick he had more scholarship offers to play football than baseball when he was a high school star at Cincinnati Moeller.
Doesn’t sound like he would have been a Buckeye, though.
Instead he might have followed fellow Moeller grad Barry Larkin to Michigan.
Of course, this was probably not much of a decision since Griffey was the No. 1 pick in the MLB draft in 1987.
Meanwhile, Griffey’s little brother, Craig, did end up in Columbus — as a Buckeye football player.
