Kennard, Duke fall to Oregon

Franklin graduate Luke Kennard’s ride with Duke University in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament was derailed by No. 1 seed Oregon 82-68 in a Sweet 16 game at Anaheim, Calif., late Thursday night.

Kennard, a 6-foot-5 freshman, started his fifth consecutive game and scored 13 points. He hit 6 of 12 shots, including 1 of 5 three-pointers. He also had 11 rebounds (two offensive), and one assist, block and steal.

Kennard started 11 of 36 games, averaging 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He hit 88 of 99 free throws (89 percent).

Duke (25-11) is the defending national champion. Oregon (31-6) will play Oklahoma (28-7) in the Elite Eight at 6:09 p.m. Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. (CBS).
