Summer vacation is fast approaching the finish line for area students. To get students back into the school spirit area tracks are hosting family-themed events including school supply giveaways.

Shady Bowl Speedway hosts Kids’ Night on Saturday and also features the Bill Lewis Memorial, a 50-lap modified feature that pays $1,500 to the winner. As for kids, they get a chance to compete in big wheel races (11-under) and a penny scramble. Backpacks filled with school supplies will also be handed out while supplies last.

In addition to the modifieds, the late models, street stocks, pure stocks, compacts, super compacts and spectator drag races are also scheduled. The night honors Lewis, an award-winning car owner and car builder. Lewis, also a founding member of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club, died in 2011. His grandson, Jim Lewis Jr., drives a street stock that was the last car built by Bill Lewis.

Racing starts at 7 p.m.
