TALAWANDA SEEKING COACHES: Talawanda High School is seeking applicants for the positions of junior varsity softball coach and assistant varsity track and field coach. WOMENS FOOTBALL TRYOUTS THIS MONTH: The Dayton Diamonds, proud members of the Womens Football Alliance, will be holding tryouts and conditioning through the month of October. Practices will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at John Wolfe Park, 4030 Denlinger Road, in Trotwood. SALVATION ARMY FORMING BASKETBALL LEAGUES: Youth basketball leagues are being formed a The Salvation Army in Hamilton for boys, ages 6-18, and girls, ages 6-15. Open registration will be held at The Salvation Army, 235 Ludlow St., on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.; on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The registration deadline is Oct. 20. HOCKEY INTRO SESSION OCT. 9TH: The Cincinnati Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) is offering a free ‘Introduction to Hockey’ session on Saturday, Oct. 9. Skate rental is free and helmets and sticks are available if kids don’t have their own. All sessions take place at Northland Ice Rink located at 10400 Reading Road, in Cincinnati. Registration is required and is limited to ages 3 – 16. Two different session times are available. SOFTBALL PRO EXPO CLINIC OCT. 9-10: A Softball Pro Expo Clinic featuring Crystl Bustos, Howard Carrier and Micaela Minner will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, in Cincinnati. Saturday will be an all-day hitting clinic with sessions from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost of the hitting clinic is $75. Sunday will be a fielding clinic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $50. Registration for both the hitting and fielding clinic combined will be at a cost of $100. There also will be a parent/coach clinic on Friday, Oct. 8 at a cost of $60. There will be an autograph session from 4 to 5 p.m. each day.

TALAWANDA HALL TO INDUCT EIGHT: The Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame will induct eight new members on Oct. 21 at the Heritage Room of the Shiver Center at Miami University. The inductees are Emily Bulach Garber (2002, soccer and basketball), Jeff Chabot (1990, football and basketball), Joyce Eaton Leyrer (1964, field hockey, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball and track), Don and Jane Kelly (THS Heart & Spirit Award), Jason Lindsey (1970, football, basketball, wrestling and track), Chris Miller (1973, football, basketball and track), Jesse Rhodenbaugh (2001, cross country, soccer and track) and Stacey Ritz (1998, cross country and track). NEW MIAMI CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF FOOTBALL: New Miami High School will celebrate 50 years of varsity football on Oct. 15 when the Vikings take on Miami Valley Conference foe Clark Montessori. A reception will be held in the high school cafeteria starting at 5 p.m. and open to any past and present New Miami football players, cheerleaders and coaches. ROSS TO HOLD 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNEY: The Ross High School girls basketball program will hold a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for boys and girls ages 10 and over on Saturday, Oct. 23, starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $45 per team and is due by Oct. 16.
