Mayweather on White, UFC offer: ‘He’s a ….. comedian’

The chances Floyd Mayweather takes on UFC champ Conor McGregor are slim, but that hasn’t stopped the retired boxer and the Irish MMA star from fighting verbally on social media — and for Dana White to throw an offer at Mayweather.

UFC President White offered to pay Mayweather and McGregor each $25 million for a presumed boxing match with PPV splits to be discussed between the three parties.

Mayweather was tracked down by TMZ later, who responded to White’s offer.

“He’s a ***** comedian,” Mayweather said.

White’s offer came two days after Mayweather told McGregor he’d give him a $15 million base purse to fight him in a boxing ring.

Mayweather made a $100 million guaranteed purse to fight Manny Pacquiao in May 2015, the richest in boxing history. He made $32 million to fight Andre Berto in September 2015.

White has now thrown himself into the trash talk. He said Mayweather’s last major fight against Pacquiao “left such a bad taste in everybody’s mouth that nobody wants to see you again.”

White said McGregor was the bigger star of the two: “(Mayweather’s) last fight did 350,000 PPV buys, Conor did 1.3 million to 1.5 million (for a fight in November 2016). There’s a reason you want this Conor McGregor fight so bad, because you know that’s your money fight.”

ESPN reported in December that McGregor had applied for a boxing license in California. If he were to pursue a boxing match outside UFC he would have to have the promotion’s blessing, or take the promotion to court.

McGregor said he would want $100 million to fight Mayweather, who countered with $15 million and a cut of the PPV during an appearance on ESPN two days ago. The most McGregor has made from a single fight is $3 million. Mayweather said he would only fight if he were guaranteed $100 million.

“Dana White, the UFC, let’s make it happen,” Mayweather said. “Bring him over to the boxing world and I’ll show him what it’s like.”

Mayweather is 49-0 as a professional. McGregor is 22-3 as a mixed-martial-artist, he’s never fought in a boxing match. Mayweather posted a video of McGregor submitting to Nate Diaz on his Instagram late Wednesday, calling him “Conor McTapout.”

White, while appearing on the Colin Cowherd radio show, called the situation “weird.”
