Today’s series finale between the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park featured a rare inning-ending double in the top of the first.

Asdrubal Cabrera sliced a two-out, ground-rule double just inside the left-field line, but because the Mets batted out of order, the inning ended.

The lineup card Mets manager Mickey Callaway turned in to the umpires had Cabrera batting second and Wilmer Flores batting third. But instead, Flores batted second and struck out before Cabrera doubled.

When the mistake was realized, Caberera’s double was wiped out as no official at-bat and cleanup hitter Jay Bruce, the former Reds outfielder, officially was logged as the third out of the inning on a putout by Reds catcher Tony Cruz.
