Miami Valley tops Mechanicsburg in Skeeter Classic

Liz Bush drained a pair of free throws with four seconds to play to secure a 58-55 win for Miami Valley over Mechanicsburg in the opening game of the Skeeter Classic at Urbana.

Tia Karras led Miami Valley with 24 points, Bush had 16 and Alyssa Clements chipped in 14 point with 10 rebounds.

Mikayla Dodane led Mechanicsburg with 19 points while Morgan Hamby added 18 points with 12 rebounds.

Miami Valley (1-0) will face Jonathan Alder (1-0) in the final today.

Vandalia 55, Northmont 50: Willow Knight scored 20 points and Brittney Petrosky added 16 for Vandalia. Erin Mangen led Northmont with 15 points and Jenna Hoschouer added 10.

Fairmont 38, Tippecanoe 28: Madeline Westbeld paced Fairmont with 16 points.

Carroll 69, Marion Pleasant 42: Amanda Schroeder recorded 24 points with 15 rebounds and Morgan King added 15 points to pace Carroll.

Badin 68, Northwest 53: Badin, led by Shelby Nusbaum with 20 points and Lauren Krause with 14, went on a 35-18 run through the first half to secure the victory.

Carlisle 59, Tri-County North 51: Christa Harris paced Carlisle with 15 points, Caitlyn Stewart added 12 and Sydney Gilbert scored 10 points. Aubrey Stupp scored 20 points for TCN.

Waynesville 46, Legacy Christian 42: Aubrey Rains tallied 17 points and Rachel Murray added 14 for Waynesville.

Miami East 48, Dayton Christian 40: Haley Howard scored 19 points and Camryn Miller added 12 to lead Miami East. Marin Reis had 14 points for Dayton Christian.

Arcanum 50, Ansonia 31: Cedarville University commit Stevie Johnting shot 9-of-11 from the floor to finish with 24 points and boost Arcanum to a season-opening win in the Bill Burkett Tournament at Tri-Village. Arcanum will play Tri-Village today at 7:30 p.m. and Ansonia will face Franklin-Monroe at 6 p.m.

Tri-Village 53, Franklin-Monroe 27: Allie Downing poured in 24 points for Tri-Village.

Anna 60, New Bremen 48: Emily Aufderhaar paced Anna with 16 points. Macy Puthoff had 10 points to lead New Bremen.

Covington 52, Houston 49: Covington, led by Samantha Whiteman with 21 points, went on a 23-12 run in the final quarter to rally for the win. Sarah Monnier had 26 points for Houston.

Delphos St. John’s 52, Delphos Jefferson 43: Madilynn Schulte tallied 21 points for Delphos SJ’s.

Parkway 53, Mississinawa Valley 43: Haley Hawk paced Parkway with 22 points while Sydney Crouch added 16. Mikayla Stump tallied 20 points for Mississinawa Valley.

Russia 54, Sidney 41: Maria Herron led Russia with 54 points. Celina Taborn tallied 15 points for Sidney.

Kenton Ridge 62, Southeastern 52: Taking advantage of a 11-0 scoring run in the second quarter, Kenton Ridge went on to beat Southeastern. Desiree Jones led Kenton Ridge with 19 points and Jamari McDavid added 18 points with 16 rebounds. Jessica Erwin scored 24 points for Southeastern.

Jonathan Alder 49, Urbana 27: Hunter Rogan had 12 points in a losing effort for host Urbana in the Skeeter Classic.
